Almost two years ago the Italians made the first announcement for the Kimera EVO38 and effectively announcing the return of the most glorious Lancia model in history, the 037, in a refined, modern form. And the EV letters in Kimera's name do not mean an electric car. There is EVO, in fact, from evolution. And this machine is a fabulous recreation of the original idea, keeping the authentic recipe, but using new ingredients, with the precision possible thanks to today's technologies.
The Kimera company and this car was born from the efforts of Luca Betti, himself a successful rally driver from Italy, who admired the Lancia 037 and its performance in rallies as a small child. Now he has remodeled his childhood idol in the form of a machine taken to the absolute, the Kimera EVO37.
The car is updated in design, but keeps the original proportions. It has a mid-mounted engine, which is based on the same original block, but uses a supercharger and a turbine. It has 4 cylinders, 2,150 cubic cm and produces 505 hp at 7,000 rpm! The maximum torque is 550 Nm, delivered at 5,000 rpm, and 400 Nm are already available at 2,000 rpm. The power and torque curve of the new engine has been set to repeat the original, thus being just as intuitive to drive.
Well, the sad part is that the production of the Kimera EVO37 is limited to only 37 examples, with a lot of manual work put into them. And that makes any chance to lead a memorable event in life. In the video below, the protagonist of the Hagerty YouTube channel managed to take such a memorable chance and go to the north of Italy to drive this incredible modern day gem.

The car is unfiltered in the immense power it offers, just like the Lancia 037 was. It feels not only like a beautiful and powerful vehicle, but also like a motorsport car, which also requires advanced driving skills.
