This is a seemingly ordinary BMW 5 Series E39 from Switzerland, but it has been kept in admirable condition for 24 years by its owner

Normally, selling a BMW 5 Series E39 manufactured 24 years ago, in a 528i version, would not be an exceptional thing, especially since the car managed to cover over 100 thousand km or more than 75 thousand miles in its 24 years. But behind this car is a particular predilection of its Swiss owner to keep it in exceptional condition, for 24 years, so that it has now ended up being put up for auction alongside rare collector cars.
So, we are talking about a BMW 528i registered in March 1998, bought in the south-west of Switzerland. The engine under the hood is a 2.8 liter, with 6 cylinders in line and 190 hp, coupled to an automatic gearbox.
The interior is upholstered in leather and has wood inserts, all of which have preserved exceptionally well to this day. The on-board computer, the displays, the audio system — everything works flawlessly, just like on the first day.
The car had a recommended service interval of 15,000 km (about 9,000 miles) or once every 2 years for Switzerland back then. And its owner strictly respected it, visiting only official BMW services each time, alternating between only 2-3 services. The car visited the service at 12,500 km in 1998, at 25,500 km in 1999, at 40,000 km in 2000, at 53,000 km in 2002, at 65,000 km in 2004, at 73,000 km in 2007, at 78,000 km in 2008, at 83,000 km in 2010, at 91,200 km in 2011, at 95,000 km in 2013, at 101,000 km in 2014, at 107,000 km in 2015, at 109,000 km in 2016, at 113,700 km in 2017, at 120,000 km in 2019. in 2020 and at 126,000 km in 2021. A long list, for sure.
All visits have remained documented, all made with exceptional regularity, even if the annual course has become smaller in the last decade. And currently, this BMW has just under 127,000 km traveled, which equals to almost 79.000 miles.
There are also visits for additional maintenance work, as well as battery changes, each time using original BMW batteries. So, we are talking about an owner who has not avoided paying 1,000-1,700 Swiss francs for such a visit to the service, but all the work was done preventively, well in advance, and only with original parts, a fact certified by the detailed invoices from the auction file, which we also got to see.
The car was inspected by the auction house's specialists, including its entire lower part, and the verdict was one of exceptionally good condition, which is why it was accepted at the same auction, which will take place on October 15, alongside models of collection of 40-60 years.
And the most intriguing part is that the Swiss specialists estimate that the car will be sold at a price between about 5,500 and 6,500 Swiss francs. An absolutely trivial and affordable price, therefore, for a car that has been exceptionally preserved, with passion, for 24 years! Basically, it's a price that only covers a few service visits during this period!
And that's exactly why this BMW from Switzerland is so special. Because, for someone who is passionate about the BMW E39, this could be that absolutely flawless copy, which he happens to come across and enjoy for a long time from now on, preferably with the same perfect care!
