This is probably the rarest and most unusual tractor ever produced, with a hot-rod look, with the body metal intentionally left unpainted to catch the patina of time, and a more current-like appearance. steampunk. We are not talking about a single copy, modified within a unique project, but not a mass-produced model either. It's something in between, rather. A limited edition of only 5 such tractors, created to pay tribute to 100 years since the birth of Ferruccio Lamborghini.
In 2016, Lamborghini launched a special edition of 40 Lamborghini Centenario supercars on the same occasion as the 100th anniversary of the birth of Lamborghini's founder. Later, in 2017, a German company called Klima-Lounge had the idea to create a Lamborghini Centenario tractor, if the history of the brand started with tractors, not supercars. They obtained permission from the Lamborghini family itself, Ferruccio's descendants, and created this wonderful tractor, in 5 copies, each of which was then sold for 250,000 euros.
All these tractors were created based on the Lamborghini DLA 35 model from 1960. The engine remained the original one a 2.2-liter 3-cylinder in-line diesel developing 35 HP, hence the model's name. The original tractor was already a very rare one, with only 117 being built, and 5 of the 117 were converted in 2017 into such hot rods.
The first two were sold immediately at the time of presentation, and the other 3 buyers did not wait too long. The copy we are talking about today and which has now been put up for sale in Switzerland is the one with the number 4 out of 5.
And even if we are talking about a tractor, the whole creation is a work of art, created with a lot of inspiration. It's fully functional, of course, but it's clear that few will dare to do anything else with this tractor than go out for occasional parades.
The tractor in the pictures, for example, has traveled only 500 km since it became a Lamborghini Centenario. And now, once put up for sale, after 6 years since it was bought, the asking price for it is already almost double what it cost in 2017. More precisely, 480,000 Swiss francs are being asked for it, practically the same amount of euros.
And the investment in this car is less like a collector's car and more like a painting or other work of art. You will definitely look at it more than you will use it. But in another six years, you might be shelling out double the price for it again. Because once in history they marked 100 years since the birth of Ferruccio Lamborghini and because only 5 such eccentric rarities exist in the whole world!
