Porsche revealed today the interior of the new generation Cayenne, which is preparing for a near launch. It seems that dashboards dominated almost entirely by displays are becoming more and more normal after the Mercedes EQS. And the new Cayenne will have 3 large screens, including one dedicated to the passenger on the right.
In addition to that, however, the future Porsche Cayenne will give up a large part of its buttons with direct access to the car's functions. For example, the previous generation had a sumptuous central tunnel with lots of physical buttons on it, which allowed you to quickly and directly access a lot of the car's functions, from the stiffness of the dampers to how loud the exhaust pipe is.

Then, the current generation had a much more compact tunnel, but anyway it had direct access to the essential driving functions of the car, not just to the climate control ones.

The next generation Cayenne, however, has given up all the buttons that directly access driving settings from the central tunnel. Now there are only the buttons for the climate control system and heating or ventilation of the seats.
The interface of the central multimedia system has also changed, abandoning the sober but classic style of Porsche, with white inscriptions on a black background, and adopting background icons, with a slight blue tint, which remind of the criticized systems on current VW models.
The transmission lever has also disappeared from the central tunnel, now being replaced by a new knob-crank concept, mounted to the right of the dashboard dials, between them and the central multimedia system.
Driving controls remain on the steering wheel, accessible via the Drive Mode button. Some functions can also be accessed through the digital interface of the multimedia system.
And finally, the passenger on the right has his multimedia system, with the vertical menu on the left repeating in the same way as on the central screen. The passenger will be able to watch movies through streaming applications, including during trips, and will be able to connect his own phone there, but also possibly his own headphones via Bluetooth, to be able to listen to the soundtrack of the movies, without distracting the driver.
The public debut, with the full unveiling of the new generation Cayenne, will take place in April, at the auto show in Shanghai, China.
