Very rare, but you still find collector cars these days that are put up for sale at a very low price, even though they are rare, fascinating and in lovely condition. This is exactly the case with this 2nd generation Honda Civic, which is by no means a car to take to elegance contests, or to keep still in the garage. But, for a younger enthusiast, or more initiated in Honda models and Civic history, or simply an enthusiast who has a smaller budget available, this model can be a real discovery.
The second generation of Civic has often been described as a superbly enjoyable one to drive, which has evolved a lot from the first and perfected just about everything that could be done. It was launched in 1980 in most regions and was a simple car in essence, but full of personality, very pleasant to drive. And Honda was already producing superbly reliable models.
The design of the car is rectangular, but without sliding into the sharp corners of the years a few generations later. It's the car that looks good in stock form too, but as soon as you put some other rims and some decals or other accents on it, you make it look sharp and eye-catching at a post office.
The car we are talking about today is manufactured in 1983 and is in absolute stock form, but impeccably preserved, even though it has spent almost all of its 40 years in Finland, in a cold climate, with a lot of snow and a lot of salt put on the roads.
It seems that either the car was built so well, or the owner knew how to provide it with the proper protection, but even its lower part looks good for its 40 years.
The car has recently undergone a cosmetic refresh of the body paint, however, and the interior has also been refreshed. The condition of the car is really very good, although no one claims to give it museum certificates.
The engine under the hood is a 1.3-liter 4-cylinder gasoline engine that develops 60 HP. Nothing has been restored here, because everything still works flawlessly.
And it's one of the cars that had the owner's maintenance instructions still on the air filter, where it said how much to change the air filter, oil filter, and other consumables. And you were guided to do it yourself if you wanted, because there was nothing complicated and because running a car didn't have to mean leaving a fortune at every service visit.
The car recently crossed the Baltic Sea and is now in Estonia, where it was put up for sale. Despite the renovation works that have been done on it and despite its excellent condition, the price asked for it is more than acceptable. Only 4,500 euros are being asked for this classic Honda Civic!
And since it's 40 years old, and there are very few genuine second-generation Civics left in Europe, there's every chance you can import it as a historic car your country, paying a nominal import tax and becoming a collector on a tangible budget!
Yes, it rarely happens that such cars prized by connoisseurs turn up in such good and authentic condition. And it's even rarer that they cost so little. And that's exactly why this classic Honda Civic is so special. Japanese car enthusiasts from this period will certainly understand!
