Ferrari Testarossa was the model that defined Ferrari's identity in the 80s, but also influenced all Italian supercars after it. It was a design that everyone dreamed of and aspired to. It was the car that simply fascinated everyone.
But in addition to its legendary design, the engine was just as impressive. Back then it was referred to as a V12 with the cylinder blocks positioned at 180 degrees, but that effectively made it a boxer. But it was also the first engine with 12 cylinders and 4 valves per cylinder, put on a Ferrari. It had 4,943 cubic cm, and the camshafts were set in motion by transmission belts. The engine benefits from Bosch KE-Jetronic injection and develops 390 hp on the European models, or 380 hp on the American ones.
All this engineering, put on a car with a design that made history, together with a superb driving sensation made the legendary Ferrari Testarossa, and today whoever has one in their collection can consider themselves lucky. In the video below, such a Ferrari is taken out of the collection of a Swiss and driven on the perfect roads, surrounded by the landscapes of the Alps, just for the sake of recording the sound of the legendary engine.
